Hi All,
We are receiving a lot of Event ID 833 on our SQL server.
"SQL Server has encountered 1 occurrence(s) of I/O requests taking longer than 15 seconds to complete on file [I:\EVDATA\VaultDevc2.mdf] in database [EnterpriseVaultDirectory] (6). The OS file handle is <0x00000b44>. The offset of the latest long
I/O is: <0x000000053a8000>"
Just to give a brief description, the server used to be a physical server which we converted to a VM thru P2V. Event 833 did not appear after doing this. Then, our client was saying that the server became slow so what we did was to increase the CPU from 4 to 8. And this is when our issue with arouse.
We are using SQL 2005 SP3. From the forums that I have read, this should have been eliminated with the release of SP3.
I have read a solution saying to make use of Processor Affinity.
We have tried this out, decreasing the dedicated CPU for the SQL server from 8 to 6, but the issue remains.
I hope you could assist us with this.
Thanks!
Regards,
Randy Allen
